Con mucha tristeza compartimos la noticia del fallecimiento de nuestra querida colega nefróloga pediátrica, Dra. Marsha Gooden, quien junto a la Dra. Maolyne Miller y Joyce Williams, fue una de las pioneras de nuestra especialidad en su país.

Le enviamos nuestras condolencias y un abrazo fraterno a su familia y colegas en Jamaica. Que descanse en paz.

Tribute to Dr. Marsha Gooden

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Marsha Gooden, Jamaica’s third paediatric nephrologist, on February 25th 2023. Marsha obtained her M.B.B.S., and D.M. Paediatrics degrees from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus and received her fellowship in Paediatric Nephrology after 2 years of training at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. In 2012, she returned to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where she formally established Jamaica’s first and only paediatric dialysis service for children under age 12 years. Her devotion and commitment to her little charges was legendary as was the reciprocal love they had for her. She was a founding Director of the charity, Jamaica Kidney Kids Foundation, sharing her knowledge in its outreach programmes. Paediatric nephrology in Jamaica has been greatly enriched by her selfless service, and she will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
